Event Description

Join Earth’s Classroom instructors for an adventure off the beaten path! Hike 5–6 miles through the rugged backcountry of Green’s Bluff, one of the Ozarks’ hidden gems. Along the way, take in incredible views of the valley and discover the hidden beauty of Green’s Cave.

Standing about 90 feet high against the valley wall, Green’s Cave is home to a crystal-clear spring and is tucked away from the public. As we explore, EC instructors will share the human history, geologic history, and natural wonders that make this area so unique.

This is a great chance to get outside, explore somewhere you may have never seen before, and experience the Ozarks from a different perspective!

We will meet at the Meramec State Park Visitor Center parking lot the afternoon of the event.

Things to Know & Required:

• This is a 5–6 mile backcountry hike over rugged and uneven terrain.

• Sturdy hiking shoes or boots are required.

• Bring a backpack with plenty of water, snacks, and any personal necessities.

• Dress appropriately for the weather and expect to get off the beaten path.

• This hike is not recommended for young children (6 and under) or anyone who has difficulty hiking on uneven or steep terrain.

• A logistics packet will be emailed to you after registration/payment is received.

• Nonmembers - $12

• FREE slots for Gasconade County R-2 families (OES, GES, OMS)
