About the event
Event Description
One of our most popular programs! The American woodcock, a unique Missouri native, puts on an unforgettable spring performance. With its distinctive “peenting” song and sky dance soaring up to 300 feet, this elusive bird brings spring to life! Join us for an evening of discovery as we teach you how to spy on woodcocks and identify other evening songs of the season. Be ready for a fun hike as you experience nature’s spring spectacle up close.
Make it a full evening of wildlife! The Salamander Breeding Grounds program takes place later that same evening, from 7:30–9 pm, following Dances with Woodcocks. Don’t forget to sign up for the Salamander Breeding Grounds program separately!
