Course Overview

This course is a must for any river paddler trying to become a safer adventurer! The ACA L3 River Safety and Rescue Skills Class workshop teaches participants to recognize and avoid common river hazards, execute self-rescue techniques, and perform rescue techniques for paddlers in distress. Emphasis is placed both on personal safety and on simple, commonly used skills. Fundamental river skills such as throw rope use, swimming techniques, and wading techniques will be covered. Scenarios will provide participants with an opportunity to practice their skills both individually and within a team/group context.
