Do Something Different!

We invite you, your family and friends as we plan to excite senses
with our outdoor educational adventures!!!!

  • Reserve your spot at least 3 days prior to program time unless otherwise noted.
    Reserve by calling: (573) 437-7628

  • If minimum is not filled the program will be cancelled.

  • All programs are designed for all ages unless specified.  Ages five and under are free!!

  • In case of inclement weather, programs will be cancelled or rescheduled.
       Call for updates!!

  • Programs working with other organizations may have different accommodations.

 


 

RECYCLING AND TRASH PICK UP
Saturday, December 17th, 2011

Location: Earth’s Classroom Pavilion

On Saturday we will be doing our  adopt-a-highway program along Hwy T.   If anyone wishes to join us for some free education along the way, such as roadside botany and anything else that crosses our path, and free refreshments… please join us, thanks.       

 

TREES IN WINTER

Saturday, December 17th, 2011

FIRST 10 FAMILY participants from Gasconade County R-2 Schools are FREE
With an appropriate identification guide, winter can be an easy time to identify the trees around you.  Bundle up and take a hike with us so that you can discover how to identify species and age of trees by their bare winter twigs.  Learn identification terminology and take home your very own, 45 pg. A Key to Missouri Trees in Winter  book for only an additional $3.00!!!  This is a EXCELLENT opportunity to identify and learn what trees are surrounding your homestead!    Dress appropriately with multiple layers, even on legs.  Hot refreshments will be provided.  Please provide your own mug!


WINTER BACK YARD BIRDING

FIRST 10 Family participants from Gasconade County R-2 Schools are FREE!

This day, no matter what the weather, you can join us from the comfort of Earth’s Classroom Founder’s green home to observe winter birds visiting multiple bird feeders.  Sitting behind big, South-facing windows, observe behavior and discuss scientific research that has told us unique stories about these feathered friends.  A wonderful opportunity to share stories and learn identification of our winter birds while having hot drinks and tasty treats!  Binoculars and spotting scope will be provided.  Upon reservation you will receive directions to the birding location. Please provide your on mug!


7th Annual FRIENDLY LIVING GATHERING

Would you like a $50 monthly energy bill or less?  Have you thought about living a more sustainable life style?  Are you or do you know someone whom is remodeling or building a home?  If you said yes to any of these questions, participating in this program could greatly benefit your goals.  Join the Founders of Earth’s Classroom as we spend the day looking at three homes and the lives of the families occupying them.  Take the opportunity to learn from their adventures of a more sustainable lifestyle.
Carpooling/Caravanning in your own vehicle is required to travel from home to home.  Please dress warm and bring your own mugs.  More detailed information will be sent upon your reservation.

SALAMANDER BREEDING GROUNDS

FIRST 10 Family participants from Gasconade County R-2 Schools are FREE!

Prepare yourself with a flashlight, warm clothes, and join us as we scope out the breeding spotted salamander.  Earth’s Classroom has many perfect locations for the event!  From the central newt to the hellbender, discover the habits and habitats on the salamanders of Missouri and how they all are so different from one another.  A great discovery adventure! Warm drinks will be provided so bring a mug!  Back up date for too cold of weather, will be on February 25th  or March  2nd.


MEMBER’S DAY
These days are for you, our members, to come out and just enjoy nature.  Bring your family and a few friends to use our acreage for exploration and discovery from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm.    
Look into participating in our public programs scheduled on the same days.
